Declaring our love for Texas craft beer

We love craft beer guys. The only thing we love more than craft beer is locally brewed craft beer. Luckily for us, Texas has been the birthplace for many breweries; each with their own unique recipes satisfy a wide range of palates. From lagers to stouts, our local breweries have something for everyone.

Community Beer Company

This is the closest brewery to us, right in the design district a few miles from our store (1.5 miles to be exact). These guys are passionate about their beer and their desire to share it with the community. Their brews are broad and complex from their American-style mosaic IPA to their Belgian Style Trinity Tripel. We’re not the only ones that think their beer is amazing, check out all of their awards here.

Franconia Brewing Company

A refreshing small brewery headed by a brewmaster that comes from a long line brewers all the way from Germany. Not only does this brewmaster have brewing in his blood, he has spent his whole life perfecting it. Franconia’s wheat and kolsch beers are both ridiculously delicious and totally refreshing. Read about Franconia and their brewmaster Dennis Wehrmann.

Lakewood Brewing Company

Lakewood was the first local craft beer we added to the store, they were definitely our first beer crush. They also have an extensive beer portfolio full of core and seasonal beers, which you can find here. Lakewood is also a lover of White Rock Lake, donating a portion of their Rock Ryder sales to For the Love of the Lake; an organization dedicated to the lake’s preservation.

Texas Big Beer Company

This small South Texas Brewery packs a punch, they take Texas size seriously. All of their beers are in 22 ounce bottles and they have a Texas sized alcohol content. Even so, Texas Big Beer is a personal brewery, their brewers bring the beer themselves and love to take the time to pour a sample and talk about beer.

Wicked Beaver Brewing

Our only brewery in west Texas, these guys know how to make hoppy beers. They also have a great sense of humor, check out their website to see what we’re talking about. They also have a diversity in their beers, from a hoppy IPA to a light cream ale. All of this deliciousness comes from a hands on approach and the guys at wicked beaver know this.

So there you have it guys; awesome beer and it’s all made here in Texas. Stop by our store and build your own six-pack, try them all. Go Texan.

New Services

Our growth this year has consisted of adding additional services for our customers; product tastings, deliveries and our wine club. We have taken some time in order to perfect these services for our customers and we continue to expand and improve based on customer suggestions and reviews. In that time we have learned a lot about our customers and our products.

We invite everyone to stop by on Wednesday and Friday nights for free tastings. Wednesdays are reserved for wine and we open a different bottle every week. We have tasted a wide variety of types of wines ranging from sweet whites to robust barrel aged red blends. Fridays are rotated between beer and liquor. We have a long list of the wide variety of both craft beer and craft whiskey we have sampled. We issue a calendar at the beginning of the month in our email newsletter, come by the store and sign up sometime.

Here are a few samples:

Our delivery service is available throughout the week with advanced notice, we like 24-48 hours; fridays and saturdays we can delivery same day. However, we are limited in the distance we can deliver to. We are able to deliver to the major hotels downtown; Omni Dallas, Sheraton, Springhill Suites, W and many more. We also deliver to local apartment complexes and luxury lofts downtown and uptown. We have a $25 minimum and no delivery charge. So give us a call!

Now i have saved the best for last, our wine club! We are so excited to provide this service. We get to explore the diversity that wine has to offer and gives us an excuse to drink more of it; for research purposes of course. Our wine club members receive two wines and a 10% discount a month; a choice between 2 reds, 2 whites or 1 of each. Every month brings two new wines to try, a perfect gift for yourself each month. Give us a call if you want more information or want to sign up.

Wine Club

These next few days we’ll feature a lot of gift ideas and catch up on what we should’ve been blogging about this past year.

Welcome to 1001 Wine & Spirits’s Blog

This is our first blog post guys! It has been a year in the making. First, we would like to thank all of our customers this past year. We have felt so much support and it has been crucial in our success. We are so excited to finally get to blog about our experiences and share our knowledge. We have learned a lot about booze this past year. The research was imperative, the hours long and the hangovers brutal. But we made it and we have a lot to tell you.

We must make an honorable mention to our General Manager, Keaton Watson, he has gone above and beyond to excel at customer service and his expertise in wine has helped the launch of our Wine Club. We will dedicate a later post to our wine club and its benefits, stay tuned. We started delivery services in the Downtown Dallas area, we can even gift wrap it if requested. It’s that customer service we were talking about earlier. We want to share recipes, products, reviews and specials; while also having a platform for recommendations and suggestions from our customers. So there you go guys, that’s what the blog is all about.

One last thing, we just want to have fun, drink and be merry.  And we want you guys to join us.
